How do I find out what my mother died of?

Both my parents are deceased. I've never known my father, though I know his name. My mother died when I was very young. I have tried lately to find out about her and her life, etc... I have found a death record, which has her DOB, DOD, SSN, zip code of last benefit, state of death, and zip code of where living when ssn was given.. I think that's about it. Nothing to indicate what was her cause of death, cemetary burried in... I've searched for an obituary, found nothing. Does anyone know how I can find out how she died and where she might be burried?

Thank you for your advice... I'm afraid that I'm a bit cyber-stupid, and did not really understand how to operate the search tool Confused

. However, somewhere along the line, I ran into a place - and I couldn't begin to tell you where it was or find it again - but was associated with the SSA Death Master File Index, somehow.... where I could put all the information that I have from the record I had printed out from the SSA Death Master File and it narrowed down for me the name of the County in which she died, and from there, I found a list of numerous cemetaries with information to some extent on everyone in tthe first and only one I could bring myself to look at.. she was not in that one... but so many children whio had lived only a day or two, and a woman who's husband had died 38 yeaars ago, but she was apparently still liviing ... all those years.. and the headstone said "together forever"... it was to sad....

Anyway, it also gave an example of a form letter which could be used to write to the SSA and for the price of $27.00, I could be mailed a photocopy of the actual application she had apparently filled out in order to get that number. I for one thing, am currently in a transition and am staying with friends of an acquaintance for the time being - this is their computer and they happen to have paid to gain access to this site and are allowing me to use it.... but to me $27.00 is not cheap and I don't see how the original application for a SSN could possibly tell me how she died.... I have seen applications for a SSN and do not believe that it would tell me much more than probably her parent's names, which would be nice to know... at some point, but this has all been very strange for me..... and I have found out more than I can process at this time already... regarding some other things for one, some info on my father.... so, for now, I am a bit overwhelmed and would maybe order that at aometime in the future, but now, it seems more important to me to know what happened to her, why she died when I was 13, but was not raised by her much past to the best of my recollection, the 2nd grade....

Unless you’re doing genealogy and looking for the full name of her mother and father (if even listed), don’t waste your money on form SS-5 (application).
You don’t mentioned year, State or County of Death.
If time and expense is an issue Lawman’s offer will probably be your best bet as he knows how and where to search for information cost-effectively or you can purchase a copy of her death certificate and optimistically find useful information that will enable you to search further. If you’re not familiar with death certificates the below sample will display the type and amount of information that may be available.
