How do I determine if an individual is in active duty

How do I go about determining whether an individual is currently in active duty with the armed forces.

If you are a service member or DoD civilian you can go to the Defense Manpower Data Center. (DMDC) Click on DoD community. You will need the service members date of birth and SSN.
