Selective service on line verification and more....

Almost all male U.S. citizens and male aliens living in the U.S., who are 18 through 25, are required to register with Selective Service.

This service allows you to look up and verify a man's Selective Service number, as well as the date he registered.

This information can be a useful tool to corroborate background information.

I also found additional sources for men born after January 1st, 1960. as well as men born before January 1st, 1960.

If you were born after January 1st, 1960 - you can go to the following url:
https://www4.sss.gov/regver/verification_nc.asp

If you were born before January 1st, 1960 - you can check go to the following url:
http://www.sss.gov/RECORDS2.HTM
The above URL gives you step by step directions on how you can obtain selective service records by mail. Their system also says the information is public so it is available to anyone who requests as long as they have a full name, dob, and address at the time of registration.
