Maddycakes, welcome to Detective forums.
Military imposters and obtaining military records have been addressed on this forum in the past. Unfortunately the topics pertained to US military records and phony Navy Seals. I haven’t had a need to request British military records and hesitant to offer or waste your time with information re- requesting UK military records I’m not familiar with or just found on Google.
I hope one of our UK members will jump in and help.
In the meantime you could check out SpecSec site at http://www.specsec.org/
SpecSec is a group of experienced investigators who specialize in exposing military frauds, phonies, wannabes, and impostors. E-mail them at admin@specsec.org and ask your question, if they can’t help perhaps they will refer you to an organization or person that can.
Good luck

Another source you can use is USENET. Try the following newsgroups:
alt.military.retired
alt.war.vietnam
soc.veterans
Someone in one of those newsgroups should be able to assist you. Beware of those that brag about their Vietnam service. |

Welcome to the forums and thanks for the resources. Here’s an interesting article “How to detect a phony SEAL” by Larry Knowles: http://www.vyuz.com/Fake_SEALs_110705.htm
California seems to draw its share of imposter's and uncovering frauds has become a pastime for me. For the most part I’ve had military, LE and educational frauds, these categories are not too difficult to authenticate. Anyone have an imposter with a challenging claim?

Britain and the Commonwealth in Vietnam
1945 and 1962 - 1975
When we first started publishing Britain's Small Wars, we never envisioned that we would ever publish a chapter on the Vietnam War. It is generally thought that Britain took no part in the conflict. But after many requests from regular visitors to this web site, we have started to collect information on the Commonwealths, and Britain's involvement in Vietnam. As you can imagine, information on this subject is very hard to find and most of the pages below deal with Commonwealth forces in Vietnam. We will be updating this chapter when ever we obtain more information on the subject. In the mean time we would very much like to hear from any one who has any knowledge of British involvement in Vietnam. Please click here if you have such information
