Information for obtaining Vital records for California can be found at this link:
http://www.cdph.ca.gov/certlic/birthdeathmar/Pages/default.aspx

California birth, death, marriage and divorce records
are maintained by the California Department of
Public Health, Office of Vital Records.

If you are not able to obtain an "authorized copy" you may still be entitled to obtain an "informational copy" read more about it here:
http://www.cdph.ca.gov/certlic/birthdeathmar/Pages/AthorizedCopyvsInformationalCopy.aspx
