I am trying to do a background check on a gentleman I am dating. He lived in Paducah, KY prior to Feb. 2007 when he began a building project for the Government of Ghana. All I have is the cellphone number he calls from in that country. Any way to obtain information with that info? People can say ANYTHING, and we must all be responsible for our own welfare. Just trying to check this guy out. Help would be appreciated, as I am new at this. Thanks! Smile

Myrna, welcome to Detective Forums.

You’re 100 correct, “people can say anything” and when it comes to relationship they frequently do. Are you talking about a comprehensive background check or verification of Ghana phone number or both? Without posting personal identifiers, what is the nature and extent of your information? I’m referring to name (verified?) , birth date, addresses with priors, past phone numbers, vehicles, licenses number, car rentals, credit cards, employment current and history, financial, family, friends, military, criminal, medical, documents ie DL, Reg, utility bills, mail, clubs, unions, social groups etc. I think you get my gist.
Also how much time and effort are you willing to put into you quest vs paying an investigator or information service. You may want to explore the forum and read post by other members.

Awesome speed with reply, Watchman. Thank you very much. I have submitted a paid request to People Search this morning so will hopefully get something from them. Did that once before for my prospective son in law and I knew more about him than THEY could find out. If I could find a reliable person to search for me that did not cost the mortgage on my house, I would rather a pro handle it. I have limited information. I know former city, profession and country of birth. City in US, birth country not. Would rather find out information without his knowledge so I can see it it jives with what I know, and if it does , fine, if not then perhaps I can help prevent a predator from hurting a gullible person...aye? Any suggestions?

I commend you for being cautious and cognizant people are not always what they seem to be. Over the years I’ve seen too women become emotional, physical and or financial victims.
You may want to read post by lawmanconfidential or take a look at his site:

I certainly hope your due diligence gives you the answers you seek.

Yeah not to be confused with John Holmes Smile

Here's a photo taken with a low resolution covert camera of lawman modeling his new investigator attire. Please take note, no pipe as Lawman is a non smoker.
