Hello,
First post!
I'm trying to find my brother. I overheard my dad talking about fathering a son over 25 years ago, and I just found out it's true.
All I know is his first name and the high school he graduated from. My father's name is listed on his birth certificate;
Child support notices used to come to my house (I remember thta distinctly!)
the man's mother tried to contact my father 16 years ago, but my cousin intercepted the letter and she saw the man's (at the time, he was a boy) photo and he looked exactly like my dad. The woman (kids' mom) said she wanted my dad to acklnowledge his son, but not for monetary reasons. My dad didn't respond to the letter. Now that me and my sisters know about this, we want to try to contact our brother.
BTW, my dad does not know that we know.
Where can I access info? I've tried birth certificate records, but I don't know the boy/man's name - but like I said, my dad is listed as the father of the child.
What should I do? I would appreciate any suggestions!
Thank you |

Sunshine welcome to Detective Forum!
Well here’s my suggestion, if your cousin is still available pick her brain, jog her memory for every conceivable detail. The same for anyone else who may have information.
Letters, photo etc. are most likely hidden somewhere. If you still have little to go on and If you don’t have an exact year of graduation or if a large class and common name I’d put this aside for now. Considering everyone involved is an adult, I would sit your father down and have a heart to heart talk. This will save you a lot of leg work, frustration and expense if you decide on professional assistance. In the meantime read prior post on related subjects and keep us updated on your progress. Hopefully members can give you direction as you develop additional leads.
Good luck |

My cousin is away for the week, but when she returns she will look for the letter my "brother's" mother sent to my father (that my cousin opened without his permission) She made a photocopy of it. Hopefully she'll be able to find it - it was 16 years ago!
Thank you - I'll keep you all updated! |
